Tien Phong Marathon National Championship (Tien Phong Marathon) is a prestigious tournament with a long history behind it - the tournament was first held in Hanoi, 1958. Being a top sporting event, the tournament has been integrated into Vietnam’s offficial athletics competition system for the last 50 years, and it is held annually at the end of March. Tien Phong Marathon attracts the best participants in Vietnam competing for medals in mid and long distances, and this is also a good opportunity for amateur runners to compete on the same ground as top national athletes.
On March 27th 2022, for the 63rd anniversary of Tien Phong Marathon, the tournament will be held in Con Dao island, Ba Ria Vung Tau province. Amateur runners will be able to compete in 3 distances: 10km, 21,1km and 42,195km. Pro runners attend in 4 distances: 5km, 10km, 21,1km and 42,195km. There are 2 separate competition systems with separate award systems for pros and amateur runners. At TPM 2022, athletes will experience the unique race route in Vietnam when striding on the sunny coastal road, run through the shady national forest with monkeys, squirrels or passing by historical relics associated with the heroic history of the nation.
